Chef on Windows
This event was organized as a follow up to the first Chef event hosted at the Reactor. This event was a day time workshop that ran for 10am to 2pm.
The talk was presented by Jeffrey Snover (Technical Fellow and Chief Architect for Windows Server and System Center Datacenter at Microsoft) and Steven Murawski (Software Development Engineer at Chef and Microsoft MVP) and focused on learning how to enable your existing Windows Server infrastructure to move at a cloud pace.
Jeffrey and Steven introduced Windows PowerShell Desired State Configuration (DSC) and Chef and show how these tools work together to bring structure to the configuration of Windows Server. Several hands-on exercises were available to the attendees to follow along with using a prebuilt environment in Azure.
It was great to have very well-known speakers in the IT community coming together to present at this event. As a bonus many of the attendees the opportunity to interact directly with the speakers during breaks and after the event.
